Blackrock Clinic has been a client of Artisan since 2004 when we revised and streamlined their visual identity to serve the growing requirements of the organisation more efficiently. We have worked to ensure a consistent identity across internal and external communication requirements. Our design for their 2008 annual report utilised a restrained colour scheme and clean grid-based layouts, allowing the necessary information to be communicated in a legible yet contemporary format.

When Talbot Hotel Group approached us, they were interested in re-branding their Stillorgan Park hotel. During our discussions, it became apparent that the overall branding of the group had become somewhat weakened over time. Artisan developed a thematic approach to branding the hotel group and the individual hotels, so that their relationship with each other was re-inforced.

For the first time, Talbot Hotels were recognisably a family, with shared brand values.

This allowed each hotel – and the group as a whole – to maximise brand recognition. Under a consistent brand template, custom designs tailored for each hotel’s promotional requirements developed into an interchangeable set of solutions, simply adapted to achieve cost-efficiencies on marketing materials throughout the group.

We have just re-designed the website for Alexis Bar and Grill, one of our local clients here in Dún Laoghaire.

We had worked with Alexis to design the restaurant identity and website prior to their launch, so it was nice to be asked back to freshen up the site and content. the aim was to reflect the bright, friendly personality that this award-winning restaurant has developed in becoming firmly established in the local area as a provider of quality, seasonal cuisine.

It’s a pleasure to see how Alexis has developed such an excellent reputation in the couple of years since it opened. Of course, the re-design required quite a bit of… ermmm…. ‘research’ along the way. Yummm!

We were commissioned by Greenstar to produce some explanatory illustrations about the construction and maintenance of landfills. The illustrations needed to be  technically accurate, yet legible to non-experts in this area. We’re pretty happy that the resulting images succeeded in both aims.

This type of illustration is the ideal approach to visual communicate complex information in a clear, appealing manner. Heres another image formt he same series, showing clearly the stages of construction of a landfill site:

This project began with a brief from SEI to create a family-orientated exhibition stand clarifying methods of energy production and conservation.

Our solution was The Story of Energy – a themed environment incorporating display graphics, print materials, bespoke animation and a Flash computer game. Bright friendly graphics attracted all ages, the interactive game promoted sustainable energy practices in the home to the younger age group, while printed materials spelled out the environmental costs of energy consumption and approaches to energy efficiency.

Following the success of this exhibition design, we produced a pack for primary school teachers – a book, which featured the interactive game and animation on enclosed DVDs.

We have been retained to Sustainable Energy Ireland’s design panel since shortly after Artisan was formed. Our strengths in illustration and information graphics often prove useful to organisations which require the communication of complex information in legible, accessible ways.

Exploring Energy is a workbook devised by SEI to help secondary school teachers approach the whole area of energy with their students in a series of practical, fun learning experiments.

For this project, we were lucky to have an exceptional collaborator in the form of Joven Kerekes. Joven is a native of San Francisco, now based in Dublin. While working at Artisan, he brought a wonderful sense of quirk and craft to his projects. The proof of his wonderful illustration work on this project is the fact that this book has been re-printed several times, an is still meeting the demands of the secondary school curriculum.

In preparation for the publication of their first anthology of new creative writing, Deansgrange Writers Group needed to create a simple, inexpensive online presence. Initially the group considered a blog, but there was some doubt about whether this would be maintained on an ongoing basis.

Artisan developed a simple site to introduce the members of the group, their writing and incorporate online sales of the anthology itself.

Pavilion Theatre has been a client of Artisan since we began trading in 2000. For their 2010 Christmas production, we were briefed to bring a little bit of Dickens to the Pantomime mix.

We created an illustration which was used on all promotional materials; posters, advertising, leaflets etc. Olde Worlde, but with a touch of cheekiness for a show that mixed tradition with topicality and delighted the audience, young and old alike.
